Maryke is a passionate, creative individual with over 14 years experience in the hospitality and wedding industry.
“I started working from a very young age – with that came all the invaluable experience I needed to see the potential for a company like The Deacon Collection. This industry is saturated with suppliers, most have set packages, do not always take the clients’ needs into consideration, and few are flexible. We pride ourselves in client satisfaction, from the design, planning and management of a client’s function, all is taken care of, you are not forced into any price bracket & we adapt to you, and with a smile of course!”
Maryke started her hospitality journey in 2000 where she worked part time at small venues and catering companies, from there she could be found in the banqueting department of The Palazzo Hotel and frequently helped out at the Michael Angelo. “Being part of the “O Tea party” hosted by Oprah Winfrey was definitely a highlight of my time in the Hotels.” After working at an upmarket Sandton Restaurant, Maryke traveled to the Garden Route where she held the position as wedding and function planner/co-ordinator at a well-known venue in George. This provided excellent and intensive experience in planning and co-ordinating weddings, festivals and functions.
“It was my privilege to initiate the first “Wedding run” at this venue. Another highlight was planning the wedding of Jean-Marie Neethling & CJ Stander featured on “Top Billing” as seen on the right.
Her work nurtured a sensitivity and appreciation for clients’ needs and desires. At the Deacon Collection you can expect nothing less than passionate, diligent planning!
